SECOND JOB?

Not long ago the talk for a second job or skill started topping most conversations with some people thinking it’s only those who had unsecured jobs giving it a thought. For others, this is for those who had lazy jobs or undemanding jobs with extra time on their hands to embrace. However, some people gave it thought maybe because they indeed had extra time or did not have a more challenging jobs and probably those who accept their jobs were unsecured.

Be it as it maybe, in the last couple of years most of the people I came across were all talking and thinking they needed a second job or skill but why has it become that necessary now? I kept asking until I met Adjowa Mansa Kuwornoo a banker who tells me, she considers it a big deal because in her earlier 40s with a 21 year old daughter as single a parent. She has dreams of getting married someday though she failed a couple of time given it a try.

I thought for a moment, marriage so what? Adjowa tells me she had plans to have more children about three if not four and foresees she will need to take time off her banking job to nurture her children, hence a second job now is very necessary to save money and adopt to new ways of keeping a family together while earning a living at the same time.

Wow what a deep thinker! The fear of future unemployment was farfetched as we welcomed 2020, Adjowa looked forward to finishing the fashion school she started and earning some extra income on the side but with just 3months into the year the unseen enemy COVID-19 launches its attack in the world. Everything is locked down with companies laying off staff.
I dare ask, do we really need a second job or skills because we had unsecured jobs or it is just about taken precaution against the unknown future.

Just food for thought
